For the colour project, we were given a brief from a local homeless charity in Nottingham, Emmanuel House, to design an outerwear garment for a homeless person. Therefore, this had to meet the needs and requirements a homeless person would wish for. I chose to focus on the service user being protected and having a garment that was detachable, so for my concept I focused on hugs and the feeling of support, which is something Emmanuel House can offer. This project also concentrated on sustainability as we had to use 80% waste fabrics and only 20% new, which is something I feel has benefitted me as a designer due to pollution from fashion and landfills being such a huge global issue.
